🌊 Our Go-To: Ocean City, Maryland

When it comes to beach getaways, Ocean City, Maryland has become our family’s favorite tradition. With its endless boardwalk, oceanfront views, and familiar food spots we’ve grown to love — OCMD feels like our second home.

We’ve stayed in a handful of places over the years, each one giving us something new to appreciate. Whether it’s a long weekend or just a couple of nights, Ocean City always delivers memories that stick with us.

Rideau Oceanfront Motel

📅 July 22–25, 2021
Our post-COVID summer reset. A great location close to the action — simple, beachy, and right where we needed to be.

Hilton Garden Inn Ocean City

📅 May 28–29, 2023
A quick and cozy overnight trip. Clean rooms, good food, and a view of the water made it the perfect short escape.

Miramar Condominiums

📅 September 1–4, 2023 (Labor Day Weekend)
One of our favorite stays. These oceanfront condos were clean, quiet, and convenient. We’d definitely book again.

DoubleTree by Hilton – Ocean City

📅 July 28–30, 2023 & September 5–8, 2024
Consistently a solid pick. The kids loved the pool and being able to walk right to the sand. It’s our current go-to!

🚴‍♀️ What We Love to Do in OCMD

  • Bike rides on the boardwalk
    We always bring our bikes — it’s so much faster than walking, especially when you’re trying to get to the end of the boardwalk where our favorite spots are! 🚲 Just note: OC has rules for when bikes are allowed on the boardwalk, so always check the posted hours.

  • Grotto Pizza & Tony Luke’s
    These are must-haves on every trip. Both are located right at the southern end of the boardwalk. Grotto’s has that iconic pizza flavor we always crave after the beach, and Tony Luke’s is a solid stop for cheesesteaks and fries. Pro tip: bike there before the crowds roll in.

  • OC Rocket Ride
    📅 July 30, 2023 – 10:00 AM
    This 50-minute boat ride was a hit with the whole family — ocean spray, music, and maybe even a dolphin sighting if you’re lucky.

  • Splash Mountain Water Park
    We’ve been here a few times. It’s okay, but going to a water park at the beach always seemed a little contradictory to us — why not just jump in the ocean?

  • Nick’s Mini Golf & Jurassic Ropes Course
    📅 September 7, 2024
    Brad, Peyton, and I enjoyed a fun round of mini golf, while Paisley took on the Jurassic-themed ropes course. It was a great mix of challenges and fun for all ages.

🏡 Why Ocean City Is Worth Coming Back To

Each time we visit, the weather might change, the kids get a little older, or we stay in a different place — but the feeling of OCMD stays the same. It’s easygoing, welcoming, and full of charm. I love that there’s always something to do or explore, whether it’s trying a new restaurant, biking the boardwalk, or discovering a hidden gem.
